The United States Marine Corps prides itself on two basic principles: “Making Marines and Winning Battles”. The Marine drill instructor provides the foundation and fundamental values for the basically trained Marine. The drill instructor is the symbol of transformation for the young man or woman seeking direction and change. That sought after change is the desire to become part of something unique and challenging--the United States Marine Corps. The basic Marine must have the ability to perform assigned tasks, maintain physical conditioning standards, exercise our values and ethics on and off the battlefield, and demonstrate an unwavering selfless devotion to duty.
